Ababulgu is a first generation coffee farmer, taking his knowledge and experience from working in the finance world and using it to cultivate a coffee farm - and producing some of the best product in the region. He manages a ten acre plot in Kedamasse, a town in the Agaro region of Ethiopia. We were connected with Abdurahman through Crop to Cup, one of our importing partners, and we could not be more excited to feature this work! As a first generation farmer, Abdulrherman has applied professionalism, innovation, and precision to all points of the process of growing, preparing, and exporting coffee.
This is the kind of coffee we love in the roastery. We took our first swing at roasting this coffee, and loved it right away. We made a few small changes, and loved it even more! The wonderful work he did at the farm level has led to a coffee that is easy to highlight and make sing!
As we brew this coffee on filter brews, we are blown away by the aroma that is almost like opening a fresh jar of honey or a peach cobbler right out of the oven. It is decadently sweet and floral.
On the palate, once again we get sweet peach flavor, tangerines, mangoes, and white grapes. It is tropical, syrupy, and makes us want to just take another sip.
The finish is just as enjoyable. It’s long, and evolves from syrupy, candied fruit to lemon zest, shortbread cookies, and Gala apples.
