Ibonia Estate

Ibonia Estate is a washed Kenyan coffee, made up of both SL-28 and SL-34 varieties, which were developed in Kenya to be hearty, disease resistant crops that still maintain the distinct terroir and flavor profile of Kenya.

The meticulous work by the producers at Ibonia Estate, who leverage the unique microclimate of their region to allow for longer maturation periods for the coffee cherries on the bush before harvest, has created a coffee that is full of complexity, a rich florality, and a clean cup!

We have been loving it on filter brews, enjoying the cherry, key lime, and cranberry acidity while it’s hot, which cools down into a complex, cola-like profile after a few minutes. It is sweet and easy to drink, a great coffee for these last few summer days.

It is also great on espresso, and really benefits from a shorter extraction time. It is great on its own, bursting with flavors like a pink Starburst and pineapple upside down cake. And with milk, it’s reminiscent of that last spoonful of a bowl of peach cobbler with vanilla ice cream.
